Sustained Academic Growth
For ten years, HVA students have entered our system in 5th grade* considerably behind grade level, many requiring intensive remediation and phonics instruction. Yet performance improves throughout middle school and by eighth grade HVA has ranked as the
#1 or #2 middle school in Harlem for the last seven of eight years.*We opened our two elementary schools in 2012.
Outstanding Parent Satisfaction
Every year, the New York Department of Education conducts a survey to measure the level of satisfaction among students and parents at every school. 99% of parents are satisfied or very satisfied with the education they receive at Harlem Village Academies and 96% are satisfied with the opportunities they have to be involved in their child’s education.
Consistent Track Record
HVA has a track record of outstanding performance year after year. Since our first graduating class in 2011, 98% or more of students have scored proficient on all Regents exams required for graduation.
Strong High School Graduation
The New York City high school graduation rate is 60%. By comparison, HVA’s high school graduation rate was 95% in 2014 and has been 91% or higher every year.
Nationally, 8% of low-income students graduate from college. By comparison, more than 88% of HVA’s high school graduates have remained in college to date.
