Develop students’ appreciation of the literary merit of classical texts and an awareness of the issues raised in them, as well as their connections and relevance to our times.
Create a classroom environment in which the study of the Spanish language yields the development of critical thought, memory and close analysis skills, as well as an appreciation of the beauty and power of the Spanish language.
Through the use of Spanish language primary sources, work with students to examine the ideas of classical works within their historical, political, and cultural contexts, while explicitly teaching skills such as comprehension, text analysis, and transfer.
In designing your curriculum, align lesson plans with both academically rigorous IB benchmarks and HVA’s progressive pedagogical model.
Invest several hours per week in professional learning and lesson planning, including personalized instructional coaching, co-planning, department meetings, and grade level meetings.
