The Technology Teacher will inspire 2nd-8th grade students' passion for exploring & solving problems as they learn to invent, build, code and troubleshoot through an inquiry-based discovery process. They will lead students from being mere consumers of technology to students who create and problem solve with it.
Develop and teach a comprehensive digital literacy curriculum to students in grades 2-8, incorporating keyboarding skills, content creation, digital citizenship, Google Apps, content area enrichment, and other topics as appropriate
Ensure students act as creative problem solvers every day, by inventing, coding and conducting inquiry
Oversee school implementation of computer-based intervention technology to increase student achievement.
Use technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration
Develop and coordinate special STEM events/activities including participating in STEM competitions
Serve as liaison to STEM vendors, to determine the best tools to optimize learning for students and staff
Establish and uphold classroom routines to ensure a focused, safe and caring environment
Two years of teaching, with significant STEM experience, preferably in grades K-8
Proven success using project-based learning involving technology and design strongly preferred
Strong track record of student achievement and deeper learning in your past teaching
Ability to create a class environment in which students feel safe, supported and challenged to engage deeply in meaningful work
A strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement
Unshakeable conviction that all students can learn at a high level
