About the Role:
College Counselor responsibilities vary based on the college admissions cycle. Over the course of an academic year, you will:

Lead cohort of 12th grade scholars through each component of the college and financial aid process. This includes:
-
Creating balanced lists in accordance with academics, interests, and financial background
-
Supporting personal statement and supplemental development
-
Advising on all aspects of the financial aid process (FAFSA, CSS Profile including NCP, TAP completion, package evaluation, and matriculation support).

Partner with families on all aspects of the process, via strategic communications, events, workshops, and individual student meetings.

Advocate for students by writing high-quality recommendation letters and supporting faculty to do the same (via workshops and individualized feedback as needed).

Lead 12th Grade College Application workshops or 11th Grade College Readiness lessons

Build strong relationships with college admissions officers and stay informed of landscape changes.

Coach students in developing executive functioning/college-ready skills including self-advocacy, project management, and organization they navigate the admissions and financial aid processes;

Support college event planning, including: College Fair, “Demystifying Selective Admissions” Panel, College Trips, and College Signing Day.

Attend HVAH community events, professional development, school-wide celebrations, and training.

Coordinate with advisors and administrators (Grade-Level and Leadership) to ensure collaboration and support of college initiatives in the school.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $102,000, and is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Final salary may be adjusted based on experience and qualifications. HVA is committed to providing our team with a range of benefit offerings at a competitive value.
