The Opportunity
The Managing Director of Events will be a critical member of the HVA’s Advancement Team and will help drive the groundbreaking mission of HVA. Specifically, the Managing Director of Events will oversee the planning and management of the annual spring benefit, salons, board meetings and other targeted events. The successful candidate will be a seasoned events professional with 8-10+ years of experience and a demonstrated track record of leading large scale to small successful events for non-profit organizations.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualizes, designs and implements a yearlong events calendar to deepen HVA’s individual donor base.
- Builds and manages detailed event budgets against expenses by utilizing the industry’s proven best practices to achieve efficiency without sacrificing quality.
- Creates and manages detailed event project trackers based on agreed upon goals with other members of the advancement team. Manages event partners and logistics including sourcing and management of venues, caterers, rentals, AV, decor and other needs pertaining to the events.
- Strategizes and manages revenue-tracking documents including ticket/table purchases, sponsorships, donations, and other revenue sources related to the events.
- Ensures the optimization of systems, processes, communications, and other infrastructure essential for event management success, including the appropriate integration of technologies that can streamline operational processes. Prepares final revenue reports and debriefings with team members at the conclusion of each event.
- Oversees and manages day-of schedules for the events and logistics, vendor relations, staff and volunteer assignments and run of show.
- Manages and refines donor mailing lists and mailings. Drafts copy of letters, invitations, follow up mailings, social media and works with the Creative Director to manage the design process for any collateral needs related to the events.
Qualifications
The qualified candidate is strategic, highly organized, an excellent communicator, and is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate possesses the highest level of proactiveness, follow through, attention to detail, efficiency, and quality. The ideal candidate will also have at least 8-10 years of relevant experience in leading and managing 500+ guest events as well as targeted events of under 100 guests.

Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $200,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience. In addition, HVA offers a competitive range of benefits. This is an on-site position.
